Submission Guidelines

S & H Publishing's mission is to provide quality books to our readers, and to provide opportunities for new talented authors to stand out from the crowd. In order to do this, we must have outstanding manuscripts to publish.

We have open submissions for full-length manuscripts.

What We Publish

Just as the contemporary woman is not defined by interest or age, our manuscripts are not bound by genre, length, or style. We accept full-length novels, novellas, and creative nonfiction that will appeal to the contemporary woman.

What We Do Not Publish

We do not accept children's books, middle grade fiction, or chap books. We do not accept erotica, or any scenes with descriptions of torture, child abuse, or material that we judge to be potentially offensive to readers. While we all applaud a romantic interest within the stories, we are not currently interested in publishing romance fiction of any type. Editors must necessarily be subjective and the catalogue of the press will always reflect the taste and judgment of the editors.

How to Submit a Manuscript

Please email a short query letter, a one or two page synopsis, and attach the first 50 pages as a .doc or .docx file. Remember your query letter and synopsis make the first impression. They deserve the same careful editing and proofing as you final manuscript. Make sure your story is ready to meet the world. It should be well written with respect to grammar, consistent punctuation, and correct spelling. For the best chance of us accepting your work, your manuscript should be complete, polished, and proofread.
