Lewis
Mary Lewis Deans Foote

Mary Lewis traveled the world from Hawaii to Bangkok, writing delightful and insightful stories of life as she saw it. Many of these stories were sent home to Nashville, North Carolina and appeared in The Nashville Graphic under the title "It's a Long Way from Tobacco Road."

Mary Lewis grew up on a tobacco farm in Nash County, North Carolina, and it was there that she found the inspiration for Like the Moon. Originally published in 1989 by Flatrock Press, it became a cult classic, appealing to anyone with a fondness for the Deep South, its dialect, and its folksy good-natured humor.

In the years since the original publication of the book, Mary Lewis fell in love with and married John Foote. Honoring their happiness, the new edition will be published under the name Mary Lewis Deans Foote.
